The likes of Narain Karthikeyan, Karun Chandhok and Armaan Ebrahim took their baby steps into the world of professional racing via go karting. To give rookies a first-hand experience of professional racing, JK Tyre launched the JK Tyre-MMS Rotax Max Kart Open in 2010. Drivers from across India go head-on in three categories - the Micro Max, Junior Class and Senior Class - to get a taste of real racing. With the field being a mix of experienced and rookie kart drivers, this event gives an opportunity to them all to shake off the rust and sharpen their skills before they take part in the National Karting Championship. The professional karting teams such as Mohites Racing, Rayo Racing, Meco Racing, BPC Racing participate in the event. A number of graduates from Indias only motorsport academy started by JK Tyre and Meco Motorsports feature in this series.
