Spain, 3rd December 2016:: Armaan along with team mate Dilantha started Round 6 in Valencia on a strong note with Armaan taking his 2nd Pole position of the year for race 1 and Dilantha qualifying 5th for race 2.
Armaan held his position in P1 quite comfortably till he pitted and handed over the car to Dilantha. Unfortunately, Dilantha could not hold on to the lead and dropped 2 places and the duo finished 3rd on the podium in race 1.
In Race 2, Dilantha started 5th and held on to that position for some time. In the lap before coming into the Pits, Dilantha took a big hit from behind which damaged the suspension quite a bit and the pitted to hand over the reins to Armaan who struggled with the damaged car but managed to keep it on track using all his experience and made a place to then finally finish 4th in race 2.
The points from the 2 races were good enough for the pair to seal the Pro Am Class Championship and take the Title while also finishing 3rd Overall amongst the Pro Class as well.
Commented Armaan : It was a year full of ups and downs. My pace was very strong through the year and I had two Pole positions in the 6 rounds. In addition in most of the races I was in the lead in my stint on track amongst the Pro drivers before handing over the car to Dilantha to fight it out with the Amatuer drivers.
It was unfortunate that we could not finish 2 races due to crashes which cost us a lot of points failing which we were confident of winning the overall Title as well.
I would like to thank m sponsors JK Tyres, my team Dilantha Racing and Lamborghini for all the support through the year.
Its good to have a Championship title under your belt and I will take that into the next year.
